Everybody’s free to wear sunscreen…

I friend of mine asked me the other day if I ever contemplated the idea of suicide. It was his belief that every intelligent person has at some point or another contemplated this idea as we all get to a point where we realize that it might all be in vain. I promptly responded that I’ve never contemplated the idea because I value human life too much and I would be the person fighting for my life until the end, not deciding to end it. At the same time, I have to say that his words do have a lot of value. Maybe I’ve never contemplated the idea of taking my own life, but at the same time, I’ve been in situations where I wanted everything to be over. The difference is that I wanted to make a leap in time to a point where the pain, desperation and frustration that I was feeling at that point would all of a sudden be gone.

And although, my brother will probably the only one who gets the hint in the title as he was the person, whenever someone talks to me about suicide, I suggest the following song. You’ll understand why after you read it.
