Of All The Things That Make Us Happy

Pink Dew

I reconnected with a friend I haven’t seen in over 6 years the other day. While catching up about life, work, love, travels, he shared with me about what he’s been up to for the past 6 years, how things have changed and how they’ve stayed the same. Somehow it felt like I was talking to the same person I knew so long ago, yet on the other hand, it felt like he was someone new, someone I had never met. He had lost some of that youthful arrogance and had gained something way more valuable. He was stoic, relaxed, happy, full of life, understanding, and love.

When he told me about his wife, he used simple words, but I could see the joy in the letters of the text messages we were exchanging. He said: “Happiness is wanting to go home early to see her”. I smiled as I understood exactly what he was referring to.
