The Importance Of Consistency

“It’s not what we do once in a while that counts, but our consistent actions.” – Tony Robbins

Make A DifferenceA long time ago a personal trainer friend of mine told me about an encounter with a potential client.

The client asked: “If instead of working out for 20 minutes every day, I work out for a couple hours on the weekend, does it have the same effect?”

My friend looked up and said: “I don’t know, if instead of brushing your teeth for 5 minutes every day, you only brush them once on Saturday for 30 minutes, is that the same?”

While it might seem like a funny story, this particular encounter can serve as a reminder to all of us about the importance of consistency. If we do something just once in a while vs. if we do something every day creating a habit out of it, the results will be tremendously different. Staying persistent and consistent will always give us the best chances of achieving the desired result, while doing something once in a while only throws us off track and gives us the impression that our goal might be even harder to achieve than it is in reality.

Do you have something in your life that you just do once in a while and you wonder why you’re not getting any results? How would that look if you were consistent about it? Would you finally achieve your goal?
